Stop Abuse & Neglect

Help save children from drug & alcohol abuse in their homes. Child Protective services cannot go into a home to investigate on a report just for drug use alone. The law cannot go into a home to search for drugs without probable cause. So, as a result many children are living in abusive homes with the primary cause being drug & alcohol abuse.

All of this is going on behind closed doors and we as citizens see and hear of it but when we report it to the Department of Social Services and to local law enforcement nothing is done.

Maltreatment is child abuse and neglect, or anything that leads to child abuse or neglect, which includes anything that can lead to physical injury or emotional distress.

Risk factors include substance and drug abuse, depression, domestic violence, and more. But due to the current operating guidelines and laws in many cases, when child protective services and law enforcement are informed of maltreatment the child is not always protected. Because physical evidence is not easily evident an example being, the child does not have bruises or is not starved, Social Services says there is nothing they can do.

How do we know if the child is not missing meals or being verbally abused or emotionally neglected? If Social Services and Child Welfare agents have such restrictive operating guidelines, it is only when it is too late and a child suffers that anything is finally done.

How many children must suffer abuse and live with those scars because the system is out of balance? Our constitution guarantees us as citizens certain rights and freedoms but when those rights and freedoms are used as a shield to protect those who would endanger others we as citizens must act. The same rights must apply to those too young and helpless to defend themselves. We as citizens have a civic and moral duty to stand for the innocent and helpless.

Mandatory requirement of Social Services and Child Welfare agencies to interview parents and visit home when report is made by knowledgeable source of abuse or neglect.
